Welcome to the new ComputerCraft forums! This is a revival of the ComputerCraft community, launched by the SwitchCraft staff team. Our goal is to bring a new space to breathe new life into the mod and its community, after it has been long abandoned by its original creators. There is very much still a community living out there, and we're very glad to have you on board!

The new community will be focused around CC:Tweaked, a fork of the old mod, created by SquidDev. This fork of ComputerCraft is significantly more active, receiving regular updates, and actively responding to & accepting issues and pull requests. We are working closely with SquidDev in building the new forums and wiki to keep the information as accurate as possible.

The new forums
The new forums, located at https://forums.computercraft.cc, have been built from the ground up to serve the needs of a modern ComputerCraft user. While we are using a different forum software, Simple Machines Forum, we have designed the site so that users of the old forums will have an easy time adapting to the new site. Naturally, if you are stuck, feel free to ask, we are more than happy to help.

The new wiki
We have also created a new wiki, located at https://wiki.computercraft.cc. We have already begun documenting the majority of the CC:Tweaked API, and plan to document mods such as Plethora soon too. We would greatly appreciate your contributions to this wiki, so that we can build a brand new resource documenting everything CC-related, and keep it up-to-date.

Getting access to the wiki
You can request a wiki account here. After requesting an account, check your email to verify it (be sure to check spam). Within a few days, a member of staff will get in touch with you on the forums to verify if you are the owner of the account. You will then be approved.

In the future, we plan to integrate the wiki with forum logins, so that you only need one account, however the technology is currently incompatible with the newer versions of the software.

What about the old forums and wiki?
The old forums and wiki were managed by Dan200, the original author of ComputerCraft. While he did an excellent job in building this community, he sadly began to pay less and less attention to it in recent years. The old forums have been broken for a long time now, with no administrator but himself, and the moderators powerless to help. For example, users were unable to register (due to Google's ReCaptcha V1 closing service), and the Lua syntax highlighter was a bit buggy. As well as this, he was hardly reading or accepting PRs to his mod, and there have been no updates or communications at all for a long time. The community began to feel like Dan200 was leaving them in the dust, and our attempts at contacting him have not been responded to or even acknowledged. The time has come to take these matters into our own hands.

Amazing! <3 Thanks for all the hard work and effort that you've already put in, and still will keep putting in!

This was just the revival that CC needed!

Thanks again, and towards everyone: enjoy your stay here at the new forums and wiki!
Please do collaborate on the ComputerCraft Wiki! Thanks!

Should a post be put in the original forums redirecting users here? Would be beneficial to all the people that can't make accounts an are locked out.

Also the first user to set the theme to "Curve2" as their default.

A good idea, but not sure how that would go down with any staff of the old forums.

Just give them the same role here? I'm moderately confident Yemmel & Co. would be kind enough to do that.

Why did I have to verify myself in order to make this post?

Yemmel

You have to verify your email on any website :P

If you meant 'verify you're not a robot'
- to prevent spam
- to prevent automated topic bumping
- to prevent abused robots and turtles from complaining about their life and exercising activism for better robot rights.

The verification process is to ensure robots don't randomly post, and to keep the new forums safe from intruders. Also it's why Google developers made the reCaptcha as the old captcha was passable.

I quite agree. As also I visit the old forums to check out other apis to mess the heck around with (like I added a title function to Jummit's multitasking and gave credit for the os), and tinker around and learn the actual possibilities of coding.

Yeah! It did need a revival, and I found out about speakers, hoping to make a iOS like os (for pocket computers), along with iGP OS. (1)

Thank you @HydroNitrogen! Hope you do too! (2)
