Title: Alert system suggestion
Post by: hugeblank on Aug 13, 2018, 06:03 AM
So on coming back to the forums I had 6 alerts in my alerts inbox. Cool, I feel popular! 8)
What was not cool was that when I clicked on an alert it doesn't automatically mark it as read. I'd love to at least have the option, on clicking an alert, to have it be automatically marked as read. Then when I'm 100% done with whatever alert watching I'm doing I can clear my inbox by going to the "all alerts" menu, selecting them all, and then deleting them.

This is another thing that is probably a part of the design of SMF, so it's perfectly understandable if it's too much to change.

There's a button to set all alerts as read. Don't worry much about the alerts page being cluttered since they're pruned regularly.

I'm aware that there is one present, I'm referring to the fact that even though I am clearly aware that you have replied thanks to the alert, and clicked on it to navigate to this page, the alert persists. That behavior should be changed so that it marks itself as read when I click on it to navigate to your response.

I could click "mark read", but doing so would remove both notifications and I haven't bathed in the glory of Yemmel liking my Shatter post yet.

I agree; this may have been fixed in the last year; these changes will be visible after the migration is complete and made live. If not, we'll certainly look into implementing this.
