Title: Captchas are aggressive
Post by: Riley on Jan 09, 2025, 02:25 PM
Requiring a captcha every post I make and having a bunch of squares to click each time makes it more difficult to use the website than I think would be necessary.

without it this place would turn into a crypto scam board very quickly. unfortunately it is necessary to use a captcha to prevent this.

yes it's annoying we have to do this every new post and it is a massive hassle, but still necessary to keep this place clean.

Thanks for the feedback. As shorun mentioned, forum spam in the modern age is extremely rampant. We get thousands of attempted bot sign-ups per day—though since we implemented the custom captcha, the number that actually get through is just a handful per day now.

You should only have to perform verification when you have less than 3 posts, or if your post contains links. In other words, since you have 3 posts now, you shouldn't be asked for it every time. Can you confirm if this is not the case?
